Last Days

The Only natural exhibition will be open to the public until the last customer leaves on the evening of Sunday October 2nd.

If you are visiting the adjacent OzAsia Festival the exhibition is easy to find at the eastern side of the King William Street Bridge on the banks of the River Torrens.

Thank you to all of those that helped with the staging of this exhibition with special mentions to the team at Jolleys Boathouse Restaurant, the SALA Festival Office, Atkins Photo Lab and the Port Adelaide Enfield Council for the Special Opportunity Arts Grant.

Home or office?
And in the DIY spirit of SALA utilising the technology available to us I have installed an ordering system on this website. So if there is an artwork you like I would be more than happy to help you have one to display in your home or office or perhaps give as a gift. The photographs are not limited edition so reprints will be made as demands requires.

There are a variety of options available to purchase as unframed prints or in alternative finishes and frames. But first things first, pop down to Jolleys Boathouse before Friday September 30th and have a look.

Only natural pricelist flyer.

SALA Awards 2016

The 2016 SALA Awards were announced on Friday July 8th.

There were 13 Award categories announced and I am very happy to be a finalist in two of them, The Centre for Creative Photography Latent Image Award and the Atkins Photo Lab Award.

On the night the CCP prize was awarded to Nathan Stoltz, however for the Atkins Photo Lab Award five exhibitions were selected and they will be judged at the venues during the SALA festival.

Her Maj Revamp

Funding appears to be secured to increase the capacity of Her Majesty’s Theatre.

The existing two levels of seating will be expanded to three, as it was originally over 100 years ago. Above are a few photographs I took in the existing ceiling space in 2012 and these reveal some of the original signage and decorative elements. Full story at the ABC News website.

Revisit the Backstage Pass or Long Live The Maj exhibition pages to see other behind the scenes photographs of Her Majesty’s Theatre.

Edmar Castaneda Trio

The Edmar Castaneda Trio played two sets at Womadelaide 2016. I was front row for the last performance and it was a unique experience to see his exceptional talent on display.

These photographs can only start to capture the energy, but I highly recommend taking 5 minutes or so to watch this YouTube clip of him performing solo.  (Live Sessions. Jazz at Lincoln Center).

Seun Kuti at Womadelaide

Seun Kuti and the Egypt 80 put on an energetic performance and you will see in this picture gallery that one fan had to set his recording device to Sports mode to capture the action.

Unley Art Prize

Congratulations to Peter Barnes for his winning entry in the Open category of the All Connections to Unley Art Prize 2016.

Surahn at Womadelaide

Adelaide parklands

Rymill Park in the Adelaide Parklands has been in the news lately. I went for a walk around the area and I intend to keep visiting the site of the proposed bus way extension over the months ahead to observe the environmental impact first hand.

A four lane road and tunnel will emerge adjacent to the popular lake in Rymill Park.

More details available at the Save Rymill Park Campaign website.

Do it again

Natalie-Allen-Do-it-Adelaide-dance-

With the release of the September issue of Artlink Magazine that ‘profiles artists working with dance and performance to broadly canvas ideas of the social in contemporary art’ I had a look back over some photographs I took at an improvised outdoor performance.

I was present for part of the performance and only had my smartphone to capture the work of Natalie Allen, who presented this piece as part of Do it Adelaide. There are some additional photographs below in an earlier post.
